Essentially customers can subscribe to the new Weekend Rates by paying £2.50 on top of their current monthly line rental. They can then take advantage of standard rated calls costing just 5p a minute (charged by the second, of course) over the entire weekend! Standard rated calls are local or national calls that would normally be included in your inclusive minutes.
Not surprisingly weekend calls will no longer be included in your inclusive airtime otherwise you would lose out - which actually means that most people will be better off, as more peak calls will be included, meaning even bigger savings. As adding the Weekend Tariff option can take up to 4 weeks to be implemented for existing subscribers, new customers are advised to ask their dealer to activate the Weekend Option when their new phone is connected enabling the weekend savings to be gained from day one.
Your weekend calls will be itemised separately on your bill at no extra cost allowing, for example, business and personal calls to be distinguished easily.Based on BT's minimum charge of 5p it can even work out cheaper to use your Orange mobile than your ordinary home telephone!
All existing customers should be notified of these changes on their next bill. One nice point is that Orange class the Weekend as Midnight Friday to Midnight Sunday unlike, for example, Vodafone who seem to think the weekend starts at 9.30pm Staurday Night...
